New Flights between St. Lucia and St. Vincent

Daily flights have commenced between St. Lucia's Hewanorra International Airport and St. Vincent and the Grenadines E.T. Joshua airport seven days a week. Departing flights leave St. Lucia at 4:15 p.m. and arrive at St. Vincent at 4:35 p.m.; the return trip leaves St. Vincent at 10:30 a.m. and arrives at St. Lucia at 10:50 a.m.

Convenience doesn't come cheap, however. Roundtrip fares for the 20-minute flights start at $310 per adult and $260 for children 10 and under.

New airline expands Bahamas

Jamaica Gleaner News "Western Air, which made its inaugural flight to Jamaica two months ago, has now added Montego Bay to its destinations and is slated to fly into the Sangster International Airport there every day starting on Friday.

The Bahamas-based service started daily flights from Nassau to Kingston after Air Jamaica, now owned by Trinidad's Caribbean Airlines, suspended the route.

Western Air said it is extending an introductory price of US$320 round-trip plus taxes for the daily Montego Bay flights.

Air Jamaica: "Summer flights from New York to Barbados and Grenada

KINGSTON, JUNE 02, 2010—Air Jamaica today announced the resumption of service to Grand Cayman and the return of its popular summer service from New York (JFK) to Barbados and Grenada.

“We are excited about the return to these Caribbean markets. Jamaica and Grand Cayman have shared strong ties for many years, and our service to Barbados and Grenada gives the Diaspora the most convenient way to go home for festivals, fun and family,” said Bruce Nobles, Air Jamaica’s President and CEO.

Starting July 1, Air Jamaica will operate daily service between Kingston and Grand Cayman.

The summer non-stop service from New York, when approved by their respective governments, will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sunday to Barbados, and four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to Grenada.

The BVI Beacon: "WINAIR plans to resume flights to the Virgin Islands after a 15-month hiatus, increasing the territory’s airlift capacity to the European travel hubs St. Maarten and Antigua. The company — which is owned by the government of the Netherlands Antilles — went through a planned restructuring last year to remain viable. To reduce costs, in February 2009, WINAIR cut flights to the VI, St. Kitts and Dominica, which the company said were not profitable.
Now in a better fiscal position, the carrier plans to re-enter the wider Caribbean market with improved flight schedules, a wider market scope and lower costs, according to Claudio Buncamper, vice president of marketing and sales."
